What needs which Windows version
Everything works on any 64-bit Windows 10 except capturing a single application (an APP channel), which relies on a Windows feature added in build 20348. On older builds, use a LOOP channel (whole-device capture) instead.
Check your build with Win + R → winver.
The engine
- Runs on WASAPI — Shared by default (plays nicely alongside other apps), or Exclusive for lower latency (Settings → Audio).
- Fixed internal format: 48,000 Hz / 32-bit float.
- Default latency ≈ 10 ms; as low as 2.7 ms in Exclusive mode on capable hardware.
Premium
Some features (the FX rack, advanced spatial models, loudness metering & normalization, and higher channel/bus/group limits) require Premium — see Accounts & Premium. The Free version is a complete mixer on its own.
Optional companions
- Virtual audio cables (VB-Audio, Voicemeeter, VAC) — optional, for feeding another program your mix as a microphone (e.g. Discord) or receiving audio from software that plays into a cable. Cables show up as ordinary PHYS devices.
- OBS / Discord / recorders as destinations for virtual output buses.
