File Formats
Aura Mixer reads and writes a few file types. You'll rarely touch most of them directly — but here's what each is for.
Aura Mixer files
| Extension | What it is | How it's used |
|---|---|---|
.ngsa | Session — your live mixer state | Saved automatically; you never open it by hand (see below). |
.ngss | Scene — a snapshot of the whole mixer | Export/import from the Scenes window to back up or share a full setup. |
.ngsp | Preset — one processor's settings | Export/import from Workshop ▸ Installed (EQ, Gate, Comp, Limiter, Delay, Spatial, FX), or apply from each processor's PRESET ▾. Packs use the same format under the hood, also in the Workshop. |
The session file
Your working state lives at:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\AuraMixer\session.ngsa
It's written automatically on every change — there's no "save" step. It's tied to your machine (it references your devices), so it's not meant for sharing; use scenes (.ngss) for that. Deleting the whole AuraMixer folder resets the app, exactly like a Factory Reset.
Exported presets are organised under Documents\Aura Mixer\presets\ by type.
Files Aura Mixer imports
Aura Mixer imports a few third-party formats:
| Format | What it is | Where |
|---|---|---|
HRIR .wav / .sofa | A measured 3D-audio profile (an "ear print"); .sofa is the AES69 standard format | Spatial → HRTF, Model = Custom HRIR → IMPORT. (The Immersive model also ships ready-made measured profiles — no import needed.) |
Equalizer APO config .txt | An Equalizer APO / AutoEQ filter config — its parametric Filter lines become a 12-band EQ preset | Workshop ▸ Import → Equalizer APO config. (The same menu also imports headphone-measurement .txt files as a correction or target curve.) |
