Installing

  1. Download the latest installer from aura-mixer.com.
  2. Run it and follow the prompts.
  3. Launch Aura Mixer from the Start menu.
โš ๏ธ Beta software

Aura Mixer is currently in beta (version 0.1.0-beta). It's not fully tested, so expect rough edges โ€” and please report anything odd on Discord. It genuinely helps. During the beta, Premium is free (details).

First launch

The first time you open Aura Mixer โ€” and again after a Factory Reset โ€” a short setup flow runs before the main window:

  1. Sign-in screen (optional) โ€” sign in or paste a license key to unlock Premium, or click Skip โ€” use the Free version to carry on. More about accounts & Premium.
  2. Pick how you'll use it โ€” three cards: ๐ŸŽฎ Gaming (hear enemies around you in 3D), ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Streaming (a clean, processed microphone), or ๐ŸŽฎ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Gaming + Streaming. This pre-wires sensible defaults for your case โ€” or choose Skip setup. On the gaming paths you also pick which game you play, and Aura Mixer applies a matching spatial + footstep setup (Call of Duty / Warzone is tuned specifically; other games get a solid generic profile).
  3. Set your devices (about 20 seconds) โ€” ๐ŸŽค Choose your microphone, then ๐ŸŽง Choose your output (where the final mix plays โ€” the Main L+R bus). Either can be skipped and set later in the matching SETUP tab; no devices plugged in is fine too.

Then you land in the Simple view โ€” your sounds on big, friendly faders โ€” with a starter layout already in place: a Microphone input feeding the Main L+R master bus. (Chose a Streaming path? A ready-made Streaming capture bus for OBS is added too.) Want the full console with every knob and tab? Switch to Advanced anytime from the menu bar.

Starting the engine

Check the status bar at the bottom of the window:

  • If it says Stopped, press the โ–ถ button at the right end of the monitor bar (top of the window).
  • When it says Running | 48000 Hz | โ€ฆ, the engine is live and audio is flowing.

From here, jump straight into the Quick Start.

Where your settings live

Aura Mixer saves everything automatically โ€” every fader move, every routing change, every setting. There is no Save button and nothing to lose when you close the app.

Your session is stored at:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\AuraMixer\session.ngsa

Imported HRTF profiles and other app data live in the same AuraMixer folder. Deleting this folder resets the app completely (the same thing Factory Reset in Settings does, more politely).

Closing vs. quitting

By default, clicking the window's โœ• doesn't quit โ€” it minimizes Aura Mixer to the system tray, so your audio keeps flowing. Left-click the tray icon to bring the window back, or right-click it and choose Quit to exit for real. You can change this behaviour in Settings โ†’ General.

There's also an optional auto-start with Windows toggle in the same place, so your mix is ready the moment you sign in.
