Aura Mixer vs VoiceMeeter
VoiceMeeter was a breakthrough — a software mixer when Windows had none. But in 2026 most people just want per-app volume, EQ and surround without learning a virtual-audio routing graph, three phantom devices and VBAN. Aura Mixer does that in one native app.

In fairness
VoiceMeeter (and Banana / Potato) is still unmatched for complex broadcast setups: many hardware interfaces, bus-to-bus matrix routing, and VBAN audio over the network. If that's your world, VoiceMeeter earns its place. Aura Mixer is built for the other 95% — gamers and streamers who want a clean per-app mix without becoming an audio engineer.
Switching over
Moving over is non-destructive: install Aura Mixer alongside VoiceMeeter, set your apps' outputs, and once it sounds right you can remove VB-Cable and VoiceMeeter from startup. Nothing is overwritten.
For per-app gaming and streaming audio, yes — volume, EQ, spatial and presets in one app. The one thing it does not try to replace is VoiceMeeter's complex hardware/broadcast routing and VBAN network audio. If you need those, keep VoiceMeeter; for everything else Aura Mixer is simpler and lower-latency.
Not for the common case — Aura Mixer captures apps directly through WASAPI. Some advanced routing scenarios may still want one optional cable until our own signed driver ships, but the typical per-app setup needs none.
No. There's no virtual device in the path — Aura Mixer runs natively on WASAPI, so the signal path is short. Latency is as low as ~2.7 ms per buffer at 128 samples (10 ms at the default 480-sample buffer), with no virtual device adding more.
Yes. Aura Mixer uses only the standard Windows Audio Session API — no kernel driver, no process injection. It's no more invasive than the Windows volume mixer, so EAC, BattlEye and Ricochet have no issue with it.
Yes — global hotkeys ship free (4 of them; unlimited on Premium), and Premium adds trigger-based Automation rules (app launch/focus/close, device connect/disconnect, signal-above-threshold auto-duck) plus a local Open API for Stream Deck, Companion or your own tool. VoiceMeeter has no documented equivalent — MacroButtons is a separate, unofficial add-on.
